Zach Makovsky Seeks To Leave No Doubt In Rematch At BRAVE CF 50
Zach “Fun Size” Makovsky and Velimurad Alkhasov stood opposite each other inside the BRAVE CF cage over a year ago when the Russian prospect was tasked to welcome the American standout in the promotion.
Both men went to war over the course of three rounds inside the sold-out Hala Tivoli in Ljubljana, Slovenia, serving as one of the feature attractions of BRAVE CF 34 in January 2020. The two flyweights mounted their best offense from bell to bell, but in the end, two of the three judges at cageside saw the bout in favor of Makovsky.
Alkhasov will have the chance to run it back with Makovsky as they are booked in a rematch at the highly-anticipated BRAVE CF 50, which emanates from the historic Arad Fort in Bahrain on Thursday, April 1st. The stakes are much higher in the second encounter as the winner will punch a ticket to the finals of the BRAVE CF Flyweight World Title Tournament.
Makovsky is driven to prove that he is the rightful recipient of the winning outcome in their initial meeting and to put a lid on his brewing rivalry with Alkhasov.
“We had a really close fight last year, but I feel that I won that fight. It’s an opportunity for me to put an end to that chapter, move on, and work my way up to be the champion,” he said.
The 37-year-old Pennsylvania native was supposed to return to action in September of last year, but his match versus Abdul Hussein got canceled. “Fun Size” plans to make up for lost time in a major way, and there’s no better way to do so than by putting on a show in Bahrain this Thursday.
“I guarantee fireworks when I step back inside the cage on Thursday,” Makovsky stated. “The goal remains the same, and that is to become the first-ever World Flyweight Champion of this promotion.”
