With new opponent, Lucas Martins goes for BRAVE CF Record: I want to make history
A former Lightweight world champion, Lucas Martins will face Olzhas Eskaraev at BRAVE CF 53 in a featured 74kg catchweight bout, only 1kg below the Super Lightweight division. The new opportunity made the Brazilian star ponder a move to the upper weight class in order to set a new promotional milestone.
“Since I’ve joined BRAVE CF, I made it clear multiple times that my goal is to make history”, he said. “I became a world champion, I was the first one to fight for the title in two different weight classes and now, fighting so close to the Super Lightweight limit, I’m thinking about setting a new record: challenging the world title in three different divisions”.
Fighting in such a wide array of weights is not something new in Lucas’ career. Before joining BRAVE CF, while he competed in the United States, he was the first Brazilian to win in three different divisions: Bantamweight, Featherweight, and Lightweight.
Mineiro signed with BRAVE CF in 2017 and made his debut with a submission victory over Fabian Galvan in the Featherweight division, in which he also fought for the world title in 2019.
In 2018, Mineiro starred in one of the most iconic battles in BRAVE CF history by defeating his fellow Brazilian Luan “Miau” Santiago to claim the Lightweight world title in his home country.
BRAVE CF 53 takes place on August 21st, in Almaty, Kazakhstan, and will be held in association with the local promoters of Octagon Fight. The event will be headlined by the Featherweight clash between Nurzhan Akishev and Tae Kyun Kim.
