Representing the Prime Minister of Vanuatu, Mr. Bob Loughman, Vanuatu’s Honorary Consul to the United Kingdom, Mr James Elcocke-Harris, attended the milestone 50th event of the rapidly growing Brave CF, the fastest-growing Bahrain-based Mixed Martial Arts Promotion, which was established in 2016 by His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

Accompanying Mr. Elcocke-Harris was his Advisor, Mr. Saif Lohar, whose company Green Hill is one of the Principal Sponsors of BRAVE CF, which owns the largest MMA market share in Asia holder. The event from the number one sports property in the Middle East was hosted on April 1, 2021, in Bahrain’s Capital Manama, against the imposing backdrop of the 15th Century Arad Fort.

Mr Elcocke-Harris was there to personally convey the Prime Minister’s congratulations to the only truly global promotion BRAVE CF on its 50th celebratory event, and to express the best wishes of Prime Minister Loughman for the Promotion’s continued success.

A delegation from the Pacific island nation of Vanuatu, headed by the Prime Minister, had been invited to attend the event, but due to the ongoing Covid-19 restrictions, the delegation was unable to travel to Bahrain.

Prime Minister Loughman however communicated his best wishes saying: “The invitation by His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa to attend this auspicious event is an immense honour for our country.  It is with profound regret that due to the ongoing Covid-19 situation I have been unable to travel to Bahrain, but I would like to convey to His Highness my warmest congratulations for this milestone achievement and look forward to welcoming him to Vanuatu in the near future.”

Commenting on his attendance on behalf of the Prime Minister, Mr. Elcocke-Harris said: “I am pleased to be here representing the Prime Minister to observe this explosively exciting event, with its world-class athletes.  I wish to congratulate BRAVE CF for creating such an extraordinary spectacle in such a unique setting”.

He added: “My attendance is hopefully the first step in a development of dialogue between our two countries with the aim of exploring the feasibility of Vanuatu hosting a BRAVE CF event at a future date.”

Private Secretary to His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa and BRAVE CF President Mr. Mohammed Shahid remarked: “Having already held events in 21 countries in four and a half years, BRAVE CF is the fastest growing MMA promotion in the world. We look at all the opportunities to develop our reach and appeal to new audiences. Vanuatu could well be a future venue for us to hold an event; something that would also deepen our mutual relationship with Vanuatu and provide a window for the world to this unique and beautiful country.”

Plans for a visit by a delegation from Bahrain to Vanuatu during 2021 are under discussion, subject to relaxation of Covid-19 travel restrictions.

About Vanuatu:  A Pacific Island Nation comprising 83 Islands, Vanuatu is one of only a handful of countries in the world to currently have zero Covid 19 cases.  Priding itself on its ecologically pristine environment, Vanuatu became, in 2018 the first country in the world to ban the use of plastic straws, and subsequently, single-use plastic bags.  Consistently rated as a top ten amongst “Happiest Countries on the Planet” indices, Vanuatu represents one of the last sanctuaries in the world that is both remote, yet accessible - being just two hours’ flight time from Brisbane, Australia.
