Things heat up between Lucas Martins and Abdisalam Kubanychbek ahead of BRAVE CF 74

BRAVE Combat Federation’s Lightweight champion Abdisalam “Omok” Kubanychbek is a man of few words. It takes something special to get a reaction out of the Kyrgyz who prefers doing his talking inside the BRAVE CF cage, and it seems as though former 155-pound champion Lucas “Mineiro” Martins is that "something special" after the Brazilian piqued Kubanychbek’s interest on social media recently.

Speaking ahead of his fight at BRAVE CF 74, Martins publicly announced his desire to face the new BRAVE CF king later this year. “I am ready when you are, bro,” responded Kubanychbek to Martins, who will face France’s Ylies Djiroun in a main event clash at BRAVE CF 74 in Nantes on September 7th. Martins returns to the BRAVE CF cage next month for the first time since July last year after he knocked out his countryman Henrique Marques in the first round at BRAVE CF 60 meet in Isa Town, Bahrain.

It’s been a long journey back to the top for Martins after facing various fight cancellations over the last three years. Now that he’s found some good momentum, the former Lightweight champion is hungry to reclaim his throne and has made no secret about wanting a shot at Kubanychbek should he overcome Djiroun next month. “I know there is a champion waiting, so if I win this fight, I want to fight for the title again soon,” said Martins. “After this fight, I will return to Brazil, get back into training and prepare for the champion. Kubanychbek is a great fighter, but he has not been tested like I have before, nor has he faced someone like me yet,” said Martins.

Kubanychbek is en route to becoming one of the greatest Lightweights in global MMA. The man is on a 12-fight win streak dating back to 2018. Kyrgyzstan's first-ever BRAVE CF champion has competed in 23 professional fights with 20 victories and only three decision losses thus far. Despite “Omok’s” dominance on the global stage, Martins - a fight veteran with 21 victories in 27 bouts - is adamant that he remains “the biggest challenge of Kubanychbek’s career.”

“I can’t wait for our meeting,” added Kubanychbek, who last defended his title against Russia’s Kamil Magomedov at BRAVE CF 69 earlier this year.
