The Next Francis Ngannou? Undefeated IMMAF Gold Medalist Kubanza Set to Make Waves at BRAVE CF 79

Nov 23, 2023

news

BRAVE Combat Federation and KHK MMA has set milestones in global mixed martial arts giving rise to phenomenal stars, including Khamzat Chimaev, Ikram Aliskerov, Stephan Loman, Muhammad Mokaev, Bubba Jenkins, Johnny Walker, Carlston Harris, Brad Katona, and many more. As the global mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion based in the Kingdom of Bahrain is set to host BRAVE CF 79 on Friday, 8 December 2023 at Khalifa Sports City in Bahrain, the continent of Africa is anticipating the rise of its best kept secret in MMA.

Democratic Republic of Congo’s (DRC) rising super welterweight star, Eliezer ‘’King Kong’’ Kubanza (4-0-0) is set to make his return after his iconic debut at BRAVE CF 72 where he won dominantly with a brutally explosive first-round head kick to Algeria’s Rayan Atmani (3-1-0), handing over Atmani his first loss in his professional career. At Bahrain, Kubanza will face yet another undefeated opponent, Adel Ibrahim (3-0-0) representing Tristar Gym Lebanon.

The stakes are at an all time high as both fighters are undefeated in their professional careers and one among them will lose their unblemished professional record. His opponent is also a knockout artist with two of his career wins coming by way of stoppages. The bout is not expected to go to the judges as both the fighters love to trade shots. The Congolese sensation is expected to have a slight advantage over his adversary with his immense experience in kickboxing and amateur background. However, what makes Kubanza the star to look out for is due to the focus on him drawing parallels with yet another huge name to come out of the same continent.

After his debut at BRAVE CF, Kubanza’s style and ring presence drew comparisons between Francis Ngannou, who took UFC by storm after winning the KHK National MMA Tryouts Final in Bahrain. Similar to Ngannou, the two-time IMMAF Africa Championships gold medallist is noted for his unrivaled strength and relentless aggression. Currently undefeated in his professional career, Kubanza is not taking the easy road but taking fights on short notice against undefeated opponents giving them their first taste of loss.

Kubanza grew up tough, cutting his teeth on the streets competing in bare-knuckle fighting before committing himself to the discipline of Kickboxing, where he became a dominant force with 33 victories. After transitioning to MMA, Kubanza shocked many coaches and officials after beating South African promotional champion Sheldon Victor in the first round of their fight at the 2017 IMMAF Africa Open Championships. Later, he became the first athlete - and only one of two fighters to beat the former three-time IMMAF world champion, Ramazan Gitinov - who is currently unbeaten in 31 fights.

Kubanza moved to South Africa after winning his first IMMAF gold medal, to win yet another gold medal and various promotional titles. The two-time IMMAF Africa Championships gold medallist, is now set for the next major test of his career as a mixed martial artist as he puts his unblemished 4-0 record on the line. The Congolese sensation has already announced his ambition to conquer the super welterweight championship at the promotion.

BRAVE Combat Federation is set to take over the Kingdom of Bahrain for the biggest edition of BRAVE International Combat Week. And it all begins on December 5, with BRAVE CF 77, as the most global promotion in the world puts on a huge fight card to kick off the BICW 2023.

BRAVE CF 77 will be headlined by two title fights as Lightweight champion Abidsalam Kubanychbek defends his belt against former titleholder Lucas ‘’Mineiro’’ Martins, while Super Welterweight kingpin Marcin Bandel looks to maintain his throne when he takes on undefeated machine Kamal Magomedov.

In total, athletes from 10 nations will be in action, highlighting BRAVE CF’s international reach: Kyrgyzstan, Brazil, Poland, Russia, Kazakhstan, Egypt, Ukraine, Zimbabwe, Tajikistan, and Slovenia.
