For the past four years, BRAVE Combat Federation has played a key role in transforming Slovenian MMA, working closely with the local promotion WFC and the Slovenian National Federation to build a thriving MMA ecosystem.
Since its debut in Slovenia with BRAVE CF 34 in 2020, the organization has been dedicated to providing a global platform for Slovenian fighters. BRAVE CF 88, held on September 28, further showcased the promising future of Slovenian MMA, positioning the country as a potential superpower in the sport.
In the opening bout of the night, Slovenia’s Kirill Negru delivered a dominant performance, defeating Italy’s Ilian Sinani and solidifying his status as the top Amateur Welterweight in Europe. As the reigning IMMAF European Champion, Negru has now earned a spot in the IMMAF World Championships in Uzbekistan, following his strong showing at BRAVE CF 88.
Slovenian Heavyweight Miha Frlic secured a quick 37-second victory over Samuele Di Guardo, who entered the fight on a three-fight winning streak. With the win, Frlic remained undefeated in his professional career, marking his third consecutive win. After his initial BRAVE CF fight ended in a draw, this victory establishes Frlic as a contender in the Heavyweight division.
Elsewhere, Monika Kucinic once again proved her superstardom, defeating Fabiola Pidroni in a thrilling Fight of the Year contender. Despite a challenging first round, Kucinic demonstrated resilience and secured the win after a three-round war. Already recognized as a top European talent, her performances in BRAVE CF are positioning her as a rising global star in women’s MMA.
The success of these athletes, along with veteran Heavyweight Luka Podkrajsek’s first-round finish, underscores the vast potential of Slovenian MMA. With BRAVE Combat Federation providing the platform and opportunities, it is highly likely that Slovenian fighters will soon take over the MMA World.
