Suchika Tariyal following the path of Ronda Rousey and Kayla Harrison with submission win at BRAVE CF 92
India has a new rising star in MMA, as judo champion Suchika Tariyal made a memorable global debut with BRAVE Combat Federation at BRAVE CF 92 in Bahrain. Suchika faced Filipino star Jhen Buzon at the event and secured a submission victory.
A decorated athlete across multiple disciplines, Suchika is an eight-time national judo champion, a Commonwealth and South Asian medalist, and a Jiu-Jitsu World Champion. With her recent win at BRAVE CF 92, Suchika has firmly positioned herself as a rising star in MMA. Her world-class grappling skills proved too much for Buzon, despite the Filipino fighter showing heart. After effortlessly taking down and controlling her opponent, Suchika secured a belly-down armbar to announce her arrival at BRAVE CF.
With this win, Suchika has joined the ranks of elite judokas like Ronda Rousey and Kayla Harrison, who successfully transitioned to the global MMA stage. Before the fight, Suchika was tagged as the "Ronda Rousey of India" due to her accolades in judo, and she lived up to the hype with her armbar finish—a move synonymous with Ronda Rousey, who secured nine of her 12 wins by armbar. Similarly, Suchika has finished both her MMA fights via armbar submission, underscoring the parallels.
Suchika’s BRAVE CF debut comes after a seven-year hiatus from MMA, during which she actively competed in judo and jiu-jitsu. Her victory over Buzon improved her MMA record to two wins and no losses, keeping her undefeated with both wins via armbar submission.
Suchika’s entry also adds intrigue to the BRAVE CF Strawweight division, which is poised for an exciting 2025 with world-class talent from around the globe.
