Russia vs Brazil in Brazil! BRAVE CF 78 headlined by inaugural Flyweight world title fight

Oct 26, 2023

BRAVE Combat Federation's much-anticipated return to Brazil has a main event. BRAVE CF 78: Victorious takes place in Fortaleza, on December 7, in association with Victorious Fighting Entertainment and will feature a blockbuster inaugural Flyweight title fight as Velimurad Alkhasov and Edilceu Alves renew MMA's hottest rivalry in a clash between Russia and Brazil.
The co-main event of BRAVE CF 78 will feature a duel of top Super Lightweights with German-Brazilian Joilton Lutterbach taking on former BRAVE CF world champion Luan Santiago.
Velimurad Alkhasov has the chance to break the BRAVE CF Flyweight curse, which started back in 2018 at BRAVE CF 18. He faced and beat Marcel Adur in a five-round fight, but was unable to be crowned the first 125-pound BRAVE CF champion due to missing weight.
The organization then produced an eight-man tournament, in which Velimurad made it to the final, after beating Brazil's Flavio de Queiroz and American wrestler Zach Makovsky. However, Ali Bagautinov, the other finalist, has been out on compassionate leave and the organization has now moved on to another title fight.
Enter Capoeira master Edilceu Alves. The CM System representative has run through the competition meanwhile, earning impressive victories over Sean Santella and Dansheel Moodley, which have qualified him to fight for the title at home. Alves will look to become the third CM System BRAVE CF world champion following Daniel ''Gaucho'' and Luan ''Miau'' Santiago.
The latter returns to BRAVE CF following a string of victories and will look to become a threat at Super Lightweight following a legendary run at 155 pounds, which saw Luan earn the world title in an epic KO victory over Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady at BRAVE CF 23.
Santiago faces Joilton Lutterbach, who is eager to improve on his perfect start as a BRAVE CF fighter. Joilton has three wins in as many outings and last fought at BRAVE CF 70, when he beat Andreas Gustafsson in a Fight of the Year contender.
On December 7, Fortaleza will become the third Brazilian city to host a BRAVE CF event, following shows in Curitiba and Belo Horizonte, turning Brazil into the first country to host BRAVE CF shows in three different cities.
