Rauli Tutarauli stands on the brink of history as he prepares for the biggest night of his professional career.
On Friday, October 3, the hometown favorite headlines BRAVE CF: GEORGIA VS. THE WORLD — the promotion’s first-ever live event in the country — with a chance to etch his name into the sport’s record books.
The 33-year-old sensation will battle Dutch veteran Pieter “The Archangel” Buist in a five-round clash for the BRAVE CF Interim Lightweight World Championship at the Tbilisi New Sports Palace.
Victory would not only crown him as a World Champion, but also mark him as the first Georgian to capture BRAVE CF gold.
“This is more than just a belt for me,” Tutarauli declared. “If I win, I carry the pride of my country with me. Becoming the first Georgian BRAVE CF World Champion would mean everything — for myself, for my family, and for our nation’s future in mixed martial arts.”
A Nation Behind Him
Georgia has been rising steadily on the global MMA scene. With Ilia “El Matador” Topuria and Guram “Georgian Viking” Kutateladze — both BRAVE CF alumni — already showcasing Georgian talent at the highest level, Tutarauli now has the opportunity to bring home the organization’s first BRAVE CF World Title for the country.
“To fight for a World Title in front of my people, in my own city, is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” he said. “I feel the whole nation behind me. That motivation gives me strength. I want to make sure October 3 is remembered forever in Georgian MMA history.”
The moment becomes even more significant as Georgia joins the list of nations to host a BRAVE CF event, becoming the 37th country to stage a live card for the Bahrain-based organization.
A Daunting Test Ahead
The path to immortality will not come easy. Standing across the cage is Buist, a seasoned competitor with 27 fights who has tested himself on some of the sport’s biggest stages.
Known for his striking prowess and composure under fire, the Dutchman represents a dangerous hurdle for the Georgian hopeful.
Tutarauli, however, welcomes the challenge. He views it not only as the key to history, but also as preparation for a future showdown with reigning lineal king Abdisalam Uulu “Omok” Kubanychbek.
The two met previously at BRAVE CF 87 in September 2024, where Kubanychbek successfully defended his crown.
“I respect Buist and everything he has done in this sport,” Tutarauli admitted. “He is dangerous and experienced, but I believe this is my time. If I can beat him, it will prepare me for Kubanychbek and the real crown.”
“But first, my focus is on October 3. That night, I will fight with everything I have to give Georgia its first BRAVE CF World Champion.”
History Awaits
For Tutarauli, October 3 is not just about personal redemption. It’s about inspiring a nation that has long been producing warriors, from the wrestling mats to the MMA cage.
A triumph in front of his countrymen would represent more than a gold-plated belt — it would be the culmination of years of hard work and the spark for Georgia’s continued rise in global MMA.
On a night where the world’s eyes turn to Tbilisi, Tutarauli has the chance to do what no Georgian has ever done before — hold BRAVE CF strap aloft and carve his legacy as a trailblazer for generations to come.
