The title race in the Featherweight division of BRAVE Combat Federation is heating up as Omar Solomonov secured a huge submission victory at BRAVE CF 92 in Bahrain.
Solomonov faced Arab superstar Izzeddine Al-Derbani at BRAVE CF 92. In the first round, Solomonov executed a leg sweep to take Derbani down, transitioning into a rear-naked choke during the scramble to secure the win.
With the win, the Ukrainian fighter returned to the win column, bouncing back strongly from his loss at BRAVE CF 85. Before that setback, Solomonov was on an 11-fight winning streak and had remained undefeated for eight years. This impressive run brought him close to the Featherweight title, but his momentum was halted when he was submitted by Rauan Bekbolat at BRAVE CF 85. Now, with his win at BRAVE CF 92, Solomonov has reestablished himself as a top contender in the division.
In his post-fight speech, Solomonov kept it simple and made his intentions clear.
“I want the belt. Give me the belt fight; I’m ready,” Solomonov stated.
BRAVE CF Featherweight champion Nemat Abdrashitov has yet to make his first title defense, and it will be interesting to see if Solomonov becomes the first challenger in Nemat’s title reign.
Meanwhile, the loss was a setback for Derbani, who entered the fight riding the momentum of his first-round submission win at BRAVE CF 84 in China. The Arab superstar is likely to return to the drawing board to assess his next steps.
BRAVE CF 92 marked the year-ending event for BRAVE Combat Federation. In 2024, the organization broke multiple world records and solidified its status as the most global MMA promotion in the world.
