Nkosi and Hwende raise stakes for BRAVE CF 91 title fight with press conference bet
BRAVE CF 91 will be headlined by the Bantamweight world title fight between champion Nkosi Ndebele and challenger Nicholas Hwende and ahead of their showdown on Friday, Nkosi and Hwende raised the stakes by placing a bet during the press conference.
At the press conference, held on Wednesday in Bahrain, the African superstars agreed on a $5,000 wager for their matchup. Nkosi committed to donating the amount to a charity organization of Hwende’s choice if the Zimbabwean knocks him out. At the same time, Hwende will owe Nkosi $5,000 if he fails to secure a knockout.
While discussions initially started with a $1,000 wager, the stakes escalated as the verbal exchange between the fighters intensified. During the back-and-forth, Nkosi questioned Hwende’s knockout power, to which Hwende responded confidently, promising to knock out the champion on Friday.
The fight between Nkosi and Hwende will not only decide the Bantamweight world champion but also settle the debate about who is the best Bantamweight from Africa.
Riding a two-fight winning streak, Hwende has achieved four of his eight victories through finishes, three by stoppages. He is coming off an impressive performance at BRAVE CF 82 and aims to build on this momentum.
Nkosi, on the other hand, is BRAVE CF’s first fully homegrown world champion, having spent his entire professional MMA career in the organization. Known as a finisher, he has secured five of his eight wins through stoppages. Nkosi will be looking for his second consecutive title defense of the year after defeating Jose “Shorty” Torres at BRAVE CF 82.
BRAVE CF 91 will take place at the Khalifa Sports City Arena on December 13 as part of the BRAVE International Combat Week.
