Muhammad Mokaev Hails BRAVE CF Flyweight Division and Hits Out at Gerard Burns
The best undefeated Flyweight in the world, Muhammad Mokaev, is set to make his return to the BRAVE Combat Federation cage on December 13 at BRAVE CF 91 in Bahrain.
After starting his professional MMA career with BRAVE CF, Mokaev has competed across the globe, remaining undefeated, and cementing his position as one of the top Flyweights in the world. Now, returning to where it all began, Mokaev aims to prove that he is the best pound-for-pound fighter on the planet.
Speaking ahead of his return, Mokaev noted that he will be looking to secure a finish in his upcoming fight, showcasing that his striking is as elite as his wrestling.
Mokaev will compete in BRAVE CF’s Flyweight division, widely regarded as the best in the world. The division features top names like African champion Luthando Biko, Sambo world champion Velimurad Alkhasov, Sambo European champion Bidizina Gavashelishvili, South America’s number one Flyweight Marciano Ferreira, Kazakh MMA champion Dias Erengaipov, and former BRAVE CF Bantamweight champion Jose ‘Shorty’ Torres.
Performing in such a stacked Flyweight division is a luxury that Mokaev did not have elsewhere and would help him to prove to the world that he is the best among the lot.
Mokaev was spotted early in his amateur career by His Highness Shaikh Khaled bin Hamad Al Khalifa who invited him to the KHK MMA team in Bahrain.
Supported by KHK MMA, Mokaev was provided with world-class training facilities to refine his skills. With this backing, he became a multiple-time IMMAF World Champion and turned professional with BRAVE CF, benefitting from the BRAVE CF–IMMAF Amateur pathway. Now, as one of the highest-paid MMA athletes in the world, Mokaev expressed his gratitude to His Highness Shaikh Khaled bin Hamad Al Khalifa and BRAVE CF President Mohammed Shahid for their support throughout his career.
While Mokaev’s is focussed on his fight at BRAVE CF 91, he has already drawn battle lines with top Irish Flyweight Gerard Burns. The two have exchanged words on social media, with Mokaev revealing that Burns declined a fight, claiming he needed three more months to prepare.
“You need your whole life to prepare for me. A few months will not make a difference for Gerard Burns,” Mokaev noted.
BRAVE CF 91 not only marks Mokaev’s return but also features a stacked fight card headlined by the BRAVE CF Bantamweight World Title fight between champion Nkosi Ndebele and challenger Nicholas Hwende. The event will be part of the BRAVE International Combat Week, which also includes BRAVE CF 92 on December 15.
