At BRAVE CF 74 in Nantes, France, we were scheduled to see Levy Carriel go head-to-head with Eliezer Kubanza as both men prepared to put their unbeaten records on the line. Unfortunately, Kubanza has been forced to pull out, meaning a spot opened up on the main card in what could easily serve as the opportunity of a lifetime.
The call went out, and Mathieu Rakotondrazanany answered it, ensuring that we’ll get an all-French affair on September 7, now at a Catchweight of 81kg. Rakotondrazanany isn’t a name that’ll be well known within the BRAVE family, but he has made an impression with Hexagone MMA - who will be co-promoting the show with BRAVE later this week.
He made his first appearance for them just a matter of weeks ago, and on that night, he defeated Faudel Bentayeb via unanimous decision to earn his third career victory since turning professional.
In terms of the task that lies ahead, nobody is going to pretend like he faces an easy challenge. Levy Carriel is a fascinating prospect in his own right, and he’ll go in there feeling confident in his chances of making a big impact.
