BRAVE Combat Federation kicks off 2023 in style as the fastest-growing MMA organization in the world lands in Belgrade to headline the BRAVE Serbia International Combat Week, the biggest combat sports festival in European history. In the main event of BRAVE CF 69, interim world champion Abdisalam Kubanychbek takes on top contender Kamil Magomedov to unify the Lightweight belt and is promising to use his striking to get the better of his opponent.
‘’Whether I fight three or five rounds, I’m always ready to be the last man standing and to have my arm raised. For this fight in particular, I am looking forward to keeping the fight in the stand-up and working from there’’, said ‘’Omok’’.
The strategy put forward by Kubanychbek in a pre-fight interview might be a mind trick against his opponent. Known for his wrestling, Abdisalam has heavy hands, but always looks to engage on the floor – against Kamil, though, he will have to be mindful of the submission threat, while also keeping in mind that Magomedov has an extensive taekwondo background.
A boxer in his own right, it will serve Kubanychbek well to stay within boxing range and not allow Kamil to work off his kicks. Regardless of how the fight plays out, Abdisalam has not appreciated Magomedov’s pre-fight words, when he said he
“If the Dagestani feels that he has the skill set to beat me, then he should show me at BRAVE CF 69 so that we can put on a show for all of Europe and the world to see. I have competed in many fights, but it does not get any better than this - fighting at the biggest combat sports festival in European history. So I look forward to seeing what Kamil has to offer me. I know he has good tactics, so I will not step back. I sincerely hope he does not, too."
BRAVE CF 69 headlines a historic week for MMA in Europe as BRAVE Combat Federation puts together the first edition of the International Combat Week outside of the Middle East as Belgrade welcomes more than 500 athletes from 60+ nations for the IMMAF World Championships, in association with SMMAF (Serbian MMA Federation) and BRAVE CF 69.
