Rising mixed martial arts star Khamzat Chimaev believes he wouldn’t be where he is right now if not for BRAVE Combat Federation.

The Bahrain-based outfit took a chance on the Russian-born Swede, who only had two professional fights at the time and was on the heels of his back-to-back gold-medal finish at the 2016 and 2017 Swedish Freestyle National Championships.

Chimaev was in attendance for BRAVE CF 54 in Konin, Poland last September 25 to corner his teammate Bilal "Borz" Tipsaev, who competed on the supporting card against Glenn McVeigh in a bantamweight encounter.

In an exclusive backstage interview, he conceded that the organization played a vital role in his prizefighting career.

"I want to thank this organization and Shaikh Khaled and everyone who works with them," Chimaev said. "They grow up every day, this organization grows up."

"It's nice to be here, I'm happy," he added. "This is like my family, I've been a fighter here. If it wasn't for BRAVE, then maybe I wouldn't have been who I am. Big thanks to them."

Chimaev left a lasting impression inside the BRAVE CF cage, finishing his first three bouts in under three minutes. In his first outing, he authored an emphatic stoppage victory over Marko Kisic at BRAVE CF 18 in November 2018.

A month later, he made a quick turnaround and accepted a middleweight clash against Sidney Wheeler at BRAVE CF 20, where he got the job done by thwarting the American stalwart in 35 seconds.

Chimaev returned to action at BRAVE CF 23 in April 2019, where he took home the Knockout of the Night award for shutting the lights off on Ikram Aliskerov.

His last assignment under the promotion’s banner happened six months later at BRAVE CF 27, where he submitted Mzwandile Hlongwa with a wrenching D’arce choke in the second round.
