Kamil Magomedov, ahead of BRAVE CF 69: I will expose Kubanychbeks weaknesses

The main event of BRAVE CF 69 promises to be a legendary clash between two of the top Lightweights in the world, as the interim champion Abdisalam Kubanychbek takes on top contender Kamil Magomedov. BRAVE CF 69 headlines the BRAVE Serbia International Combat Week, the biggest combat sports festival in European history and takes place in Belgrade, on February 18.

Kubanychbek has forged a fearsome reputation since joining BRAVE CF, winning five of his six bouts (the other being a No Contest in which he was dominating), and running through his competition with ferocious stamina and ground-and-pound. He has been recognized by his peers and BRAVE CF fans as the most feared man in the roster, pound-for-pound.

However, one man isn’t buying the hype, and that’s Kamil Magomedov himself. Having briefly trained with Kubanychbek in Dagestan, the number one contender believes he has what it takes to beat him – having gone as far as being the only fighter to publicly call Abdisalam out, back in 2021.

Speaking ahead of their main event next week, Magomedov - the current number-three ranked BRAVE CF Lightweight – admitted he sought out the training sessions out of  admiration for his now-opponent’s fighting style.

“Before signing the contract with BRAVE Combat Federation, I followed Kubanychbek as he was an interesting fighter who I liked. He then came to Dagestan for some training camps. As a fighter who yearns to be the best, you desire to compete against the best, and I had the desire to test myself against him. We wrestled and sparred, and that is how we came to know each other as fighters,” says Magomedov, who is also KHK Team Bahrain’s grappling and BJJ coach.

After those intense sessions, Magomedov walked away with confidence, and feels that he will shock the world next week Saturday.

“Look, he is a good fighter. His strengths are his endurance and the ability to keep a high pace in the fight. As for his weaknesses, I won’t say it before the time. I will show it in the cage on February 18. All I can add is that it seems my arsenal of techniques is wider than his,” added Kamil.

Kubanychbek earned the interim belt after beating Olzhas Eskaraev at BRAVE CF 59. He was then set to face lineal champion Ahmed Amir before the latter was stripped of his title due to uncertainty regarding his return to competition.

Now, Kubanychbek and Magomedov will throw down at the culmination of the biggest combat sports festival to ever take place in Europe - the BRAVE Serbia International Combat Week, alongside the IMMAF World Championships.
