Jose Torres is set to return to the cage at BRAVE CF 73 next weekend, and you can bet he’s coming prepared.
Following an unbeaten first few years after signing with MMA’s most global promotion, Torres is ready to finally try and claim the gold. He’ll go head to head with Nkosi Ndebele with the BRAVE bantamweight championship on the line, with many believing this is his moment to reach the top of the mountain.
In order to get there, though, he must first overcome the gruelling elements at play when he ventures to the Colombian capital of Bogota. With high altitude and tough conditions, “Shorty” knows the task that stands in front of him.
Luckily for his fans, he’s already made the trip over and has begun his specialised training - as he noted he would do not so long ago.
"What I want to do, and hopefully everything gets approved that I'm able to do this as soon as possible, is go to Bogota and be out there two weeks before the fight. I still don't believe that's enough. I also don't want to compromise the really, really good training that I'm getting here at Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas."
"I want to go two weeks before the fight, and I'm going to fly in and Couture's going to be there. I'm excited to go to Bogota early, so then I can hopefully get better acclimated but also get past altitude sickness. It's going to hit, it's automatic. I'm going to be in the mountains now."
"I know I can have all the skill but if the altitude hits me, that would be the most disappointing thing."
Will his hard work pay off? Only time will tell.
BRAVE CF 73 takes place on August 12, at the Coliseo El Salitre, in Bogota, Colombia. The main event of the evening will see the vacant Bantamweight World Title on the line as Jose “Shorty” Torres takes on Nkosi “The Future” Ndebele.
