How the BRAVE CF Light Heavyweight champion Erko Jun matches up with the rest of the division he now rules

Oct 01, 2024

news

BRAVE Combat Federation’s Light Heavyweight division has a new king as Erko Jun won the vacant title at BRAVE CF 88 in Slovenia. The Bosnian, who produced a clinical performance against Germany’s Alexander Wesner, secured a fourth-round stoppage win via leg kick in the fight to become the champion.

The win marked Jun’s third straight stoppage win in BRAVE Combat Federation and his third-straight main event fight in the organization. He also became the third Light Heavyweight champion of BRAVE Combat Federation, joining the likes of Klidson Abreu and Mohammad Fakhreddine.

While Erko goes into the history books for his title win, the journey has only started for the Bosnian. He will now have to keep the title belt with him in a division which is stacked with top talent.

One fighter that Erko seems to be interested in for his first title defense is former title challenger Mohamed Said Maalem. Said Maalem, briefly held the Light Heavyweight gold before his title winning fight was overturned to no-contest.

Having fought of the Light Heavyweight title twice so far, Said Maalem is in prime position for another shot after his impressive win at BRAVE CF 86 in Bulgaria. Interestingly, Erko secured his title shot at BRAVE CF 88 following a win at BRAVE CF 81 against Said Maalem. After this, Maalem secured a win at BRAVE CF 86 and Erko won the title belt, making it an ideal time for a rematch.

Another name that can cause problems to Jun in the division is Rasul Magomedov. The former IMMAF champion is currently undefeated in his professional MMA circuit and secured another impressive win in BRAVE CF earlier this year at BRAVE CF 87 when he stopped Brazilian Veteran Pablo Benaion in the first-round. The Bahraini superstar gained praise from BRAVE CF president Mohammed Shahid for his performance and has established himself as a top contender in the division.

Along with these two, there are a string of other names in the division that could potentially challenge Jun including former champion Mohammad Fakhreddine who recently expressed his interest to return to the BRAVE CF cage.

While it is indeed early days in the reign for Erko Jun, the journey has only started for the Bosnian as he will have to step up his game to keep the title with him.
