FORMER CHAMP AL-SELWADY PROMISES TO COME BACK STRONGER AFTER BRAVE 23 TITLE LOSS

Apr 27, 2019

news

At 24 years of age, Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady has a long career ahead of him. The former BRAVE Lightweight champion lost his title in dramatic fashion at last week's BRAVE 23: Pride and Honor, when he was knocked out by Luan Santiago in the first round. His first setback inside the BRAVE Arena hasn't stopped his quest to affirm himself as a legend of the sport.

Even though he's on the mend from injuries sustained in the fight with Santiago, "The Pride of Palestine" has kept busy with light training in Jordan and vowed to "come back stronger and better than before".

"The road to success is very bumpy, filled with many ups and downs. The most important part for me is the final result. This small setback I'm fighting through now is just a motivation for me to come back stronger and better than before. I am already learning so much about myself I did not know. See you all at the top", shared the former champ through his social media profiles.

The loss to "Miau" snapped a six-fight win streak for Abdul-Kareem, with five of those coming under the BRAVE banner. Al-Selwady was victorious in the first-ever BRAVE main event, back in September of 2016, when he submitted Rami Aziz at BRAVE 1: Beginning. He won three more bouts to earn a title shot against Lucas "Mineiro" and won the belt by TKO before losing at the hands of Santiago.

BRAVE 23: Pride and Honor was the biggest event in promotional history, with three title fights on the line and produced one of the best nights of MMA, full of thrilling KO's and legendary fights.
