Japan played host to a memorable performance from Jose ‘Shorty’ Torres who represented BRAVE Combat Federation
Former BRAVE CF Bantamweight Champion Jose ‘Shorty’ Torres represented BRAVE Combat Federation in Japan on December 30, securing a huge win and once again showcasing the exceptional talent on the BRAVE CF roster.
Fighting at the RIZIN 49: DECADE event which happened at the Saitama Super Arena in Japan, Torres faced former RIZIN title contender Makoto Takahashi in a Catchweight bout.
After three hard-fought rounds, Torres earned a decision victory. Takahashi, who entered the fight on the heels of a decision win and as one of the top names in Japanese MMA was outclassed by Torres in an exciting battle. The victory marked a strong comeback for Torres, rebounding from his title fight loss to Nkosi Ndebele at BRAVE CF 82 earlier this year.
Interestingly, Torres’ win comes alongside his announcement of a return to the BRAVE CF Flyweight division. Having spent a considerable portion of his BRAVE CF career at Flyweight before moving to Bantamweight and capturing the title, Torres now aims to become the inaugural Flyweight Champion in BRAVE CF history.
The BRAVE CF Flyweight division is widely regarded as one of the best in the world, featuring top fighters such as undefeated star Muhammad Mokaev, Kazakh MMA champion Dias Erengaipov, top South American contender Marciano Ferreira, Combat Sambo World Champion Velimurad Alkhasov, Irish standout Gerard Burns, and Commonwealth medallist Luthando Biko, among others.
Torres is set to re-enter this stacked division with the goal of making history. His win in Japan sets the stage for his Flyweight campaign while further highlighting BRAVE Combat Federation’s position as a global hub for top-tier Flyweight talent.
As the race intensifies to crown the inaugural BRAVE CF Flyweight World Champion, 2025 promises to be an exciting year for BRAVE Nation.
