BRAVE Combat Federation’s Super Welterweight star Eliezer “King Kong” Kubanza was honored and celebrated by dignitaries in his homeland, the Democratic Republic of Congo, this past week following his incredible debut at BRAVE CF 72 in Riffa, Bahrain, last month.
BRAVE CF 72 saw the unveiling of one of Africa’s best-kept secrets when the South African-based star announced his name on the most-global MMA platform in epic fashion after delivering a phenomenal head kick to Algeria’s Rayan Atmani in the first round of their match-up.
A star was born at that moment as “King Kong” became an instant hit worldwide, with his debut KO going viral on social media and broadcast television. Kubanza’s victory was celebrated in his native homeland and South Africa as watch parties blew up across Africa.
Kubanza’s BRAVE CF debut saw the DRC become the 82nd nation to be represented at BRAVE Combat Federation, highlighting why the brand is the fastest-growing promotion.
The former IMMAF Africa champion did not fail to impress and proudly flew his nation’s flag inside the BRAVE CF cage with his mastery, and his achievement was yesterday acknowledged by the DRC government as Sports Minister Mr. François Kabulo Mwana Kabulo called the athlete in to commend him on his performance before taking a picture with the new BRAVE CF star.
Kubanza made waves in the amateur division with two IMMAF Africa Open Championship gold medals and various promotional belts in South Africa. One of his highest achievements remains him being only one of two fighters to beat fellow BRAVE CF star and three-time IMMAF Amateur champion Ramazan Gitinov - who is now unbeaten in 31 fights (amateur and professional).
With his BRAVE CF debut victory in the bag, Kubanza aims to make a quick turnaround and has claimed he would love to compete on the first-ever BRAVE CF France card in September.
BRAVE CF’s next event will launch next month as BRAVE CF 73 takes place in Bogota, Colombia, on August 12, forming part of the first-ever Pan American Combat Week.
