The Democratic Republic of Congo is renowned for producing world-class combat sports stars, including former WBC Cruiserweight boxing champion Junior Ilunga Makabu and MMA star Dalcha Lungiambula. BRAVE Combat Federation prides itself on unearthing the world’s talent and shaping them to become icons of the MMA industry. Today, at BRAVE CF 72, the organization is set to unveil a young DRC warrior who has the potential to surpass all those who have come before him and rise to great heights when he makes his debut on the most-global MMA platform.
DRC-born and South African-based Eliezer Kubanza makes his promotional debut against Algeria’s Rayan Atmani at the National Stadium in Riffa, Bahrain, in the second installment of this year’s Kombat Kingdom series.
Kubanza’s foundation was built on stand-up martial arts, cutting his teeth in the streets of DRC, and competing in bare-knuckle fighting before partaking in kickboxing, where he flourished as a disciplined athlete. He then transitioned to mixed martial arts, where he would thrive on the amateur scenes, winning two gold medals and various promotional titles.
At the 2017 IMMAF Africa Open Championships, Kubanza recorded the biggest win of his career yet when he became the first athlete - and only one of two fighters since - to beat the world-renowned former three-time IMMAF world champion, Ramazan Gitinov - who is now unbeaten in 31 fights.
After moving to South Africa in 2018, Kubanza dominated the amateur scene, winning more belts before securing his second gold medal at the 2019 IMMAF Africa Open Championships. After racking up a record of seven wins and three losses, Kubanza transitioned to the professional leagues, where he has since been unbeaten in three fights after winning the Scuffle Search documentary show that showcased some of Africa’s upcoming talents.
Kubanza trains out of Johannesburg, South Africa, with BRAVE CF Bantamweight title contender Nkosi Ndebele, who will attempt to become the first South-African BRAVE CF champion when he takes on ‘’Shorty’’ Torres for the Bantamweight vacant world title at BRAVE CF 73, on August 12, in Colombia.
With three KO/TKOs (two coming in the first round) in three fights, Kubanza is an absolute beast inside the cage, and he will look to capitalize on the platform given to him and rise to his full potential starting today.
The Super Welterweight is on the verge of making history as his presence inside the BRAVE CF cage tonight will mark the DRC as the 82nd nation to be represented at BRAVE Combat Federation - highlighting the brand’s commitment to showcasing talent from every part of the world.
