The curse of the Flyweight world title has struck again. Weeks after announcing Velimurad Alkhasov vs Edilceu Alves would headline BRAVE CF 78 for the inaugural 125-pound world title, BRAVE Combat Federation has had a change in the main event of the company’s return to Brazil. Due to undisclosed reasons, Alkhasov has pulled out of the title fight and will be replaced by Flavio Queiroz on December 7, in Fortaleza, Brazil.
The main event of BRAVE CF 78 is now an all-Brazilian affair and is fitting that it will take place as the headliner of BRAVE CF’s return to the country.
Regardless of where the event takes place, Flavio was next in line after Alves and Alkhasov following two gigantic KO victories and will now have the chance to make his prophecy come true. Upon signing with BRAVE CF and in all his subsequent appearances, Queiroz claimed he would become the first-ever BRAVE CF Flyweight world champion.
‘’I’ve been a champion in all of the previous promotions I’ve fought in. I believe the BRAVE CF world title is waiting for me. After I beat Zach Makovsky, this was the only fight to make, and I’m glad I will get the chance to fulfill my destiny’’, said Flavio after learning he would fight for the title.
However, he has a huge task ahead of him. Edilceu Alves is coming off two dominant victories under the BRAVE CF banner and is riding an overall streak of six wins in all organizations.
A capoeira specialist, Alves will look to become the third BRAVE CF world champion out of the famed CM System gym, following the triumphs of Daniel Gaucho (Middleweight) and Luan Santiago (Lightweight), the second of which will also be in action on the same night.
BRAVE CF 78 takes place in association with leading local promotion Victorious Fighting Entertainment and will mark the return of the most global MMA organization in the world to Brazil. This will be the fifth overall BRAVE CF event in Brazilian soil, and the fourth to feature at least one world title fight.
