BRAVE CF 74 Staredowns: Djiroun refuses to meet Lucas Mineiro eye to eye ahead of main event thriller

Sep 06, 2023

news

The stage is set, the cameras are ready to roll, and ten of BRAVE Combat Federation’s finest superstars are hungry to produce a French MMA Renaissance tomorrow night at BRAVE CF 74 in Nantes, France. With just over 24 hours to BRAVE CF’s first-ever event in the European nation, the stars of the night came out to meet their opponents face to face in the ceremonial weigh-ins and staredowns in the center of the city of Nantes, for fans to get a last glimpse of their idols before the fight night feeling takes over.  The BRAVE CF 74 faceoffs were unique, with light moments and pockets of intensity ahead of the historic show.

The main event was all business as former BRAVE CF Lightweight champion Lucas ‘’Mineiro’’ Martins and his French opponent Ylies Djiroun came face to face to have a last glance at each other before their potential number-one contender bout. While “Mineiro” was the one with all the mind games in the build-up to the fight, it was Djiroun’s turn to unsettle the Brazilian legend as the submission specialist refused to make eye contact with his opponent before receiving rapturous applause from the Nantes crowd.

While the BRAVE CF “Big Boys” tend to be the scariest, things took a light turn when Heavyweights Pavel “The Experiment” Dailidko and Salim El Oussaidi stepped onto the stage. In a matter of “shapes and sizes”, Dailidko towered over his French opponent, who weighed in much heavier, as El Oussaidi tipped the scales at 119,9kg - just short of the Heavyweight limit of 120,6 kilograms.

As the two behemoths faced each other, they broke the ice with a humorous moment as El Oussaidi turned to the crowd and rubbed his big belly, much to the delight of those in attendance.

In the Bantamweight division, it was clear that there would be plenty to fight for when Azerbaijan’s Ali Guliev and Serbia’s Borislav Nikolic came face to face. The two 135-pound stars will square off tomorrow in a bout that will have the attention of the BRAVE CF Bantamweight champion - Jose Torres - and these warriors will not want to give the man a peaceful night’s rest with a meek performance.

As they stepped to each other, neither Guliev nor Nikolic broke eye contact, and it was only a matter of time before the BRAVE CF officials had to separate the two.

BRAVE CF 74 takes place in association with the leading French organization Hexagone MMA. The show will transform France into the 29th nation to host a BRAVE CF show - an absolute record in the mixed martial arts industry, as no other promotion has achieved that figure.
