BRAVE CF 74’s Lucas Martins vows to become world champion again in honor of his daughter

BRAVE CF 74 star Lucas Martins will not be short of motivation heading into his potential number-one contender match-up with Ylies Djiroun in Nantes, France, this week. On September 7th, Brazil’s former BRAVE CF Lightweight champion and France’s submission specialist, Djiroun, will have the privilege of headlining a historic event as BRAVE CF 74 will confirm France as the 29th nation to host BRAVE Combat Federation, an absolute record in the MMA industry.
While the show offers Martins an opportunity to become part of global MMA history and reclaim the 155-pound golden strap, he will be even more inspired to reach greater heights following the birth of his daughter earlier this year. “I have a huge reason to fight, and that is to become a world champion and show my daughter her father is a world champion,” says Martins.
With 21 wins in 27 fights - including 13 knockouts, Martins has always been a monster inside the cage, with no lack of drive to be great, however, his five-month-old daughter Clara has added a new perspective to his life and his fighting career. “I’m a different fighter now than before my last loss, even,” says Martins, referring to his submission defeat to Olzhas Eskaraev at BRAVE CF 53.
That loss formed part of a tough season for Martins, which included various forms of adversity. Shortly after he claimed the BRAVE CF Lightweight title at BRAVE CF 11, he had to deal with injuries, defeats, and fight cancellations. The Brazilian eventually bounced back and recorded a knockout victory over compatriot Henrique Marques in his last fight at BRAVE CF 60, last year. With a strong showing in his latest assignment and his baby Clara now in his corner, Martins has ramped up his desire as he chases his second BRAVE CF championship.
“My motivation is through the roof because of Clara, and I can’t wait to fight, win for her, and move on to become a two-time world champion,” added Martins, who has already been in a back-and-forth with the undisputed Lightweight champion Abdisalam Kubanychbek.
