BRAVE CF star Axel Sola has made the decision to move down a division after being tempted by the lure of the Super Lightweight division. The upcoming star announced his plan after his emphatic win over Wladimir Holodenko at BRAVE CF 61 in Germany this past weekend.
Sola was absolutely sublime in the first-ever German BRAVE CF event where he controlled every aspect of the 77-kilogram Catchweight bout. He outworked his opponent with superior speed, distance management, feints, footwork, boxing and ground game driving him to a one-sided 30-27, 30-27, 30-27 unanimous decision win over his German opponent (4-1-1).
A former number one pound-for-pound athlete at IMMAF, Sola is unbeaten in the professional leagues and is riding a four-fight win streak. However, all his bouts have been above 77 kilograms - two at Super Welterweight and the balance at Welterweight - and he feels that he needs more of a challenge.
“I think for my next fight you’ll see me down at Super Lightweight,” said Sola after his win at the Maritim Hotel in Bonn on the weekend. “I want to challenge myself more and cut weight like other fighters, the weight cut to 77 kilograms is too easy for me”.
Sola’s move down has also been inspired by the glamor that surrounds the Super Lightweight division. With the king, and BRAVE CF superstar, Bahrain’s Eldar Eldarov at the throne, BRAVE CF has built the Super Lightweight division that is booming with big names all wanting a crack at the title.
In the main event of BRAVE CF 61 - in association with leading local promotion, NFC (National Fighting Championship) - global star and German-Brazilian, Joilten Lutterbach put the division on notice after stopping the top contender Marcel Grabinski to stake his claim for a shot at the title.
At BRAVE CF 60, a week before, both Cleiton Silva and Mihail Cotruta put their hands up for Number One Contender status when they finished their opponents - Leonardo Mafra and Luan Santiago, who also happen to be big names in the new division.
