MMA purists are gleefully lapping up the endless dynamics hovering over the highly-anticipated BRAVE CF 61 main event taking place tomorrow. Following the omission of Belarus’ Vadim Kutsyi due to illness, BRAVE CF secured the services of German-Brazilian Joilton Lutterbach (35-10) as a replacement to face Germany’s Marcel Grabinski (22-6) in a Super Lightweight bout.
The two athletes have fought before in 2017 with Lutterbach coming out on top. Heading into that fight, Joilton was the more experienced mixed martial artist with just under fifty percent more fights than then-German Lightweight champion Grabinski. Lutterbach failed to make weight and made the best of his experience and the conditions to grind out the unanimous decision win. However, due to him missing weight he was ineligible for Grabinski’s title.
Fast forward to five years later, both fighters have been on an upward trajectory with Lutterbach winning 17 combat sport bouts and enduring only four losses. Post his fight with Grabinski, Lutterbach added two major titles in combat sports, and his achievements and accolades can’t be discredited. He is a global six-promotion, multi-division MMA champion, as well as a two-promotion K-1 champion.
Grabinski’s journey post losing to Lutterbach has also been a successful one. He amassed eight wins and suffered only one loss, building himself up to national-hero status. During that time he won the GMC interim Welterweight title to go with his Lightweight title before joining the fastest growing promotion in the world - BRAVE Combat Federation.
Heading into tomorrow’s event, Grabinski will have the experience of dealing with the hype around the extra-special, high-pressured BRAVE CF Fight Week and the ever-present crazed fights. This reality could be a lot for Lutterbach to process. Grabinski is riding a two-fight win streak under BRAVE CF and will use all tools at his disposal to exact revenge on BRAVE CF debutant Lutterbach, earn a shot at becoming the Number One Super Lightweight in mixed martial arts today, and prove why he is the flag-bearer for his nation.
“This is the perfect opportunity for me as I am going to be fighting in the first-ever BRAVE CF event in Germany,” says Grabinski. “This is my home and what an honor it is to be headlining a BRAVE CF card in Germany against a fighter that beat me before. The stars have aligned for me!”
BRAVE CF 61 will take place tomorrow, Saturday, August 6th, in Bonn, Germany, and will be held in association with leading local promotion National Fighting Championship (NFC). Germany will become the 28th nation to host a BRAVE CF show, and the 11th European nation to welcome the fastest-growing MMA organization in the world. For more information visit www.bravecf.com.
