On July 30th, BRAVE Combat Federation will host its 60th edition with a fight card that will leave MMA fans around the world on the edge of their seats. Apart from the quality of the match-ups, BRAVE CF 60 is also full of meaning for the future of the organization, specially with the inclusion of some of the best athletes coming out of Brazil and the top Flyweights colliding in three special fights - with its fighters being dubbed ‘’the Flyweight giants’’.
It is no secret that Brazil has been a fountain of talent for BRAVE Combat Federation. From Johnny Walker to Matheus Nicolau and Luana Pinheiro, the organization has prided itself on bringing the best talents from South America to the world stage. So far, 79 Brazilian fighters have been signed by BRAVE CF, which makes Brazil literally the biggest contingent in the promotion’s history.
With BRAVE CF 60, legendary athletes and former world champions will collide with the new generation as 10 Brazilian fighters are set for action. In the main event, former Lightweight world champion and Brazilian MMA icon Lucas ‘’Mineiro’’ Martins will face off against rising star Henrique Marques in search of vindication. Coming off three losses for the first time in his career, Lucas' back is against the wall. And he's looking forward to biting back and show the world he has what it takes to compete at the highest of levels.
Aside from Martins, two other former Brazilian world champions under the BRAVE CF banner are in action: Luan Santiago takes on Mihail Cotruta in the co-main event, while Cleiton Silva looks to add to his legacy in a new weight-class as he takes on former Super Lightweight title contender Leonardo Mafra.
But BRAVE CF 60 is not all about Brazilian MMA. Arguably the most stacked division in the organization’s roster, the Flyweights are set to show the world why this is the most underrated weight-class in the sport.
Three different 125-pound fights are in store for fans to admire the speed, accuracy and overall technical abilities that only the smaller men, the Flyweight Giants, can provide.
Leading the fold is a bout between Asu Almabaev and Zach Makovsky. Asu is widely recognized as the best Flyweight in Central Asia. Hailing from Almaty, Kazakhstan, he comes in to the biggest fight of his career with a highly impressive 11-fight win streak and the honor of being the reigning BRAVE CF Breakout Fighter of The Year, as well as being presented with the BRAVE CF 2021 Submission of The Year award.
His opponent, however, is no pushover. A grappling and MMA world champion, the veteran Zach Makovsky is out for revenge. He feels he should have been in the final of the Flyweight Tournament, which will determine the division’s first BRAVE CF champion.
Zach lost a razor-thin split decision to finalist Velimurad Alkhasov and will have his eyes glued to the final against Ali Bagautinov, hoping to fight the winner. If Alkhasov comes out on top - all the better for Makovsky.
BRAVE CF 60 takes place on July 30th, in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and will be a showcase of the best action BRAVE CF has to offer. From former world champions, to Brazilian legends-in-the-making, with a window into the Flyweight division present and future. No MMA fan will want to miss the action.
