There is something exciting brewing in the BRAVE CF Flyweight stable and Asu Almabaev is one of the flames boiling the division’s waters. Kazakhstan’s Almabaev forms part of one of the biggest Flyweight match-ups in the world when he takes on the highly-touted Zach Makovsky from USA in a potential Number One Contender fight at BRAVE CF 60 on Saturday, July 30th.
Almabaev (15-2) is one of his homeland’s finest exports who is quickly adding on to the pedigree of Kazakhstan fighters. Widely recognized as the number one Flyweight in Kazakhstan and Central Asia, the 28-year-old Kazakh’s has only endured two professional losses in 2017 as he’s since been on a rampage with an eleven-fight win streak.
‘’Zulfiqar’’ is the first athlete to win two awards in the same edition after winning the 2021 BRAVE CF Submission of the Year and Breakout Fighter of the Year awards. With an unbeaten run in the BRAVE CF cage thus far, Almabaev is being touted as the next big thing and possibly the future of the BRAVE CF Flyweight division.
There have been talks of Almabaev being the next in line to face the first-ever BRAVE CF Flyweight champion which will be confirmed when Russia’s Velimurad Alkhasov (8-1) takes on countryman Ali Bagautinov (21-7) in the final of the Flyweight Tournament.
In order for that to happen he will have to first make it three out of three in the BRAVE CF cage when he comes up against Makovsky (21-10) who will be hungry to get back to winning ways after the American’s last fight.
The 39-year-old Makovsky has had to face the disappointment of beating Alkhasov before losing to the very same opponent via split decision in a fight which he believes he did enough to win. Alkhasov then eventually advanced onto the finals of the BRAVE CF Flyweight championship that is set to crown the very first BRAVE CF Flyweight king.
With Almabaev being touted as the upcoming star in the organization, Makovsky will need no more motivation to stop the Kazakh’s hype and a win at BRAVE CF 60 will not only get him closer to Flyweight glory, but also one step closer to a coveted rematch with Alkhasov.
Makovsky’s drive to right his wrongs, compounded by BRAVE CF 60 only being Almabaev’s third showing in the BRAVE CF cage, will make this a real litmus test for Kazakh and will prove if the Almabaev hype train is real!
