BRAVE CF 40: Anton Turkaljs anger works towards the biggest victory of his career
Anton Turkalj had to deal with more than an undefeated opponent in his second BRAVE CF outing. Him and Ibo Aslan almost stole the show with an intense rivalry that spilled over backstage before, during and after their BRAVE CF 40 co-main event. In the end, however, it was yet another win for the Swedish phenom, the biggest and most dramatic of his career.
After intense, back-and-forth trash talk throughout the week, both Turkalj and Aslan couldn’t wait to trade punches and almost started before the bell rang. When the bout indeed started, ‘’The Last Ottoman’’ seemed to be the stronger, faster fighter. He landed almost at will, making Anton bleed from the nose and temporarily rocking the hometown favorite.
In the second round, however, Ibo seemed to fade and Turkalj stepped up, eventually taking his opponent down, getting his back and submitting him with a rear-naked choke. With the emotions still riding high, Anton had to be separated by referee Dec Larkin from his fallen foe.
After the fight, Anton revealed his gameplan worked to perfection, which was making Ibo work in the first round and tire him out for a finish either in the second or the third frames. The rivalry, however, doesn’t seem to be over.
‘’If he has no respect for me, then I have no respect for him. It’s the fight game, someone wins and someone loses. If he’s not going to show me respect, I’m not going to show him respect back’’, said an agitated Turkalj, still undefeated at 6-0.
