After first-round KO at BRAVE CF 74, former champ Lucas Martins demands title shot by the end of 2023

Sep 13, 2023

news

BRAVE CF 74 formed part of a huge watershed moment for Brazil’s fighting legend Lucas “Mineiro” Martins, and the man is now on a mission to not waste any more time in securing his status as one of the greatest to ever step into the BRAVE CF cage. Martins celebrated BRAVE Combat Federation’s first-ever trip to Nantes, France, in style when he knocked out French star Ylies Djiroun in the first round of the main event.

Since that epic night, Martins has been barking for a title fight before the end of 2023. “I trained so hard for this fight, and to be here, it is incredible. I am now looking forward to being champion again, and I want to fight for my belt in Bahrain at the end of the year,” said Martins. Following a disappointing season in his career, which included eight fight cancellations, knockout specialist “Mineiro” has found his rhythm again after back-to-back first-round knockout wins in the most global MMA promotion, proving why he is one of the best to do it.

The former BRAVE CF Lightweight champion, who won the title back at BRAVE CF 11, got his career back on track at BRAVE CF 60 when he derailed compatriot Henrique Marques in Isa Town, Bahrain, before following it up with another great showing just last week in Europe where he dominated one of the most talented Lightweights in the world. After five years without tasting gold again, Martins wants to return to one of the Meccas of MMA - Bahrain - as he chases “two-time BRAVE CF Lightweight champion” status.

“I am grateful for this result and to be at the top again, considering what I have been through. Before this, two athletes ran away from me, so it really feels good to be back in the BRAVE CF cage, and I can finally showcase my ability once more,” said Martins, referring to the canceled fights with French MMA star Amin Ayoub and Germany’s Marcel Grabinski. It’s time to get my belt back, and I want to fight for it in Bahrain before the end of 2023.

“BRAVE Combat Federation knows that I am the biggest star of the show, and the champion Abdisalam Kubanychbek knows that I am the biggest fight for him right now. Everybody knows it will be a great match-up, so let's end the year with a massive fight in Bahrain,” added Martins.
