BRAVE CF 60

BRAVE Combat Federation served up a royal 60th celebration show in the Kingdom of Bahrain today! BRAVE CF 60 had fans from across the globe and those in attendance on the edge of their seats as sixteen fighters put their skills, hearts and bodies on the line in what turned out to be yet another spectacular night of mixed martial arts at the event dubbed “The Battle of Brazil”.

The show - which included ten Brazilian fighters - concluded in fine style when the main event saw Lucas Martins (21-6) knockout his countryman and BRAVE CF debutant, Henrique Marques (8-2) early in the first round of their Lightweight bout. Within the first sixty seconds of the fight both athletes were finding their range and feeling each other out, Marques adopted the more risky approach which saw him unleash two high-kicks that caused him to slip on the BRAVE CF cage canvas. On his third attempt of engagement he threw a right hook which was absorbed by Martins who quickly responded with a vicious left hook dropping Marques before the former then forced the referee to stop the fight after reigning down a flurry of punches to his grounded opponent.

The fight ended with four minutes remaining in the first round. It was a huge moment for the man known as “Mineiro” considering the tough road he has recently walked which saw him endure three back-to-back losses and an array of fight cancellations. The revved-up former BRAVE CF Lightweight champion was quick to make his intentions known as he walked over to BRAVE CF President, Mohammed Shahid promising to wipe out the Lightweight division before going for a title fight.

The co-main event lived up to the hype as Moldova’s Mihail Cotruta and Brazil’s Luan Santiago put on a spectacular show. After some range and distance management in the opening exchanges of round one, Cotruta rocked Santiago on the feet who then seeked refuge as he circled the cage in an attempt to recover. Cotruta’s killer instinct kicked in as he dropped Santiago again, however, the Moldovan remained composed as he beautifully transitioned to place his opponent in a head and arm triangle in the first round which caused Santiago to tap.

The result almost puts Cotruta in the hunt for a title and a shot at BRAVE CF Super Lightweight champion, Eldar Eldarov.

In the “Battle of the Flyweight Giants”, Kazakhstan’s Asu Almabaev (16-2) proved that the hype is real when he overcame a brilliant effort by USA’s Zach Makovsky (21-11) winning a split decision (29-28 Makovsky, 29-28 Almabaev, 29-28 Almabaev). The result will see Almabaev advance to Number One Contender status and potentially face the winner of the Flyweight Championship final between Russia’s Velimurad Alkhasov and Ali Bagautinov. The early fights exceeded their statuses as the curtain-raiser to the main event with electric fights for BRAVE NATION that included two finishes and two exceptional fights that went the distance.

There, the Super Welterweight division got a treat of a show when Brazil’s Luiz Cado (15-7-1) stopped fellow Brazilian Luis Felipe Dias (14-5) via TKO due to strikes in the third round. Brazil’s Edilceu Alves (14-2) also made an interesting callout after beating USA’s Sean Santella (23-9-2, 1 NC) via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28). In the post-fight ceremony he asked for a shot at BRAVE CF Bantamweight star, USA’s Jose Torres (10-1-1).
